Common questions
What score do I need to pass the real Illinois written test?
Real test: 35 questions — 20 multiple-choice or true/false questions on traffic laws, plus 15 road-sign identification questions. At least 28 of the 35 (80%) must be correct overall; there is no separate minimum for each part, and the real test has no time limit. Our simulator reproduces the 20 rules + 15 signs mix and the 28-correct bar; the timer is a practice aid. Our exam simulator uses the same format and pass mark, so a pass here is a good sign for test day.
Where do I take the real Illinois test?
At any Illinois Secretary of State Driver Services facility. Bring the documents and fees listed on the official website, and confirm current requirements before you go — they change from time to time.
Are these the real test questions?
No. Real exam questions are not published by any state. Ours are original practice questions written from the official Illinois Rules of the Road, covering the topics the real test draws from: Illinois speed limits (70 mph interstate max, 20 mph school zones), DUI and Zero Tolerance law, statutory summary suspensions, Scott's Law, school buses, work zones, and road-sign identification by shape and colour.
How should I prepare?
Read the official handbook once through, then practise here until you pass the exam simulator twice in a row. Use practice mode to review the explanations for every question you miss.
