Common questions
What score do I need to pass the real North Carolina written test?
Real tests: TWO separate tests, and each must be passed on its own — a 25-question knowledge test on traffic laws and safe driving (at least 20 correct, 80%) and a traffic signs test in which you identify signs by colour, shape and meaning (at least 9 of 12 correct). If you fail one part you retake only that part. Our simulator reproduces both parts and both pass marks; the timer is a practice aid. Our exam simulator uses the same format and pass mark, so a pass here is a good sign for test day.
Where do I take the real North Carolina test?
At any NCDMV driver license office. Bring the documents and fees listed on the official website, and confirm current requirements before you go — they change from time to time.
Are these the real test questions?
No. Real exam questions are not published by any state. Ours are original practice questions written from the official North Carolina Driver Handbook, covering the topics the real test draws from: North Carolina speed limits (35 mph in municipalities, 55 mph outside), DWI and underage zero tolerance, the point system and improvement clinic, school buses, the Move Over law, graduated licensing, road rules and road signs.
How should I prepare?
Read the official handbook once through, then practise here until you pass the exam simulator twice in a row. Use practice mode to review the explanations for every question you miss.
