Common questions

What score do I need to pass the real Ohio written test?

Real test: 40 multiple-choice questions on motor vehicle regulations and traffic signs; at least 75% — 30 of 40 — correct to pass. If you fail, you must wait at least 24 hours before retesting. No official time limit is published; our simulator's timer is a practice aid. Our exam simulator uses the same format and pass mark, so a pass here is a good sign for test day.

Where do I take the real Ohio test?

At a driver exam station or select deputy registrar locations — the knowledge test is also available online through BMV Online Services (online attempts are limited to two in six months). Bring the documents and fees listed on the official website, and confirm current requirements before you go — they change from time to time.

Are these the real test questions?

No. Real exam questions are not published by any state. Ours are original practice questions written from the official Ohio Digest of Motor Vehicle Laws, covering the topics the real test draws from: Ohio speed limits (20 mph school zones, 25 mph residential streets), OVI and underage OVI law, the 12-point suspension rule, school buses on four-lane roads, the Move Over law, assured clear distance ahead, and TIPIC (temps) rules for new drivers.

How should I prepare?

Read the official handbook once through, then practise here until you pass the exam simulator twice in a row. Use practice mode to review the explanations for every question you miss.
